Services

Our services start with an intake conference, during which the rules governing confidentiality are reviewed and pertinent medical, developmental, and academic histories are obtained. Two half-day test sessions are then scheduled.  Dr. Jones and her psychometrists conduct the comprehensive assessment between the hours of 9:00-12:00 or 1:00-4:00, Monday through Thursday.  Subsequently, a meeting is scheduled with the parents to review the data obtained and to discuss the proposed interventions.  Separate feedback sessions are scheduled for older teens or college-age students, at the request of the parents.

The interventions may include referrals to community professionals (physicians, clinical psychologists, therapists, or tutors).  In addition to the follow-up work with those providers, meetings can be arranged with the school to review the data obtained and to discuss the proposed accommodations.

Tests provided may include the Halstead-Reitan for those 15 and older, the Halstead-Reitan for Children ages 9 - 14, and the Reitan-Indiana for Children ages 5 - 8.  These comprehensive batteries assess linguistic, higher-order cognitive, memory, attentional, visuospatial, sensory perceptual, and motor functions.  Complementing the formal test battery are current intellectual and achievement tests, as recommended through the State, and supplemental attentional and memory tests. Socio-emotional and behavioral screening instruments and behavioral checklists are also administered or distributed to the patient, parents and staff, in a concerted effort to understand the impact of the described problems on daily routines.

Dr. Jones continues to follow the progress of the students through consultations with the parents, physicians, and school representatives.  Often, reassessments on either the formal neuropsychological battery or on abbreviated intellectual or achievement test instruments are requested, at such critical junctures as transitions to a different campus or to college.

Dr. Jones works with a network of professionals in the community.  If results indicate additional help is needed in certain areas, she will gladly provide a referral.
