Professional Experience

Diagnostic Associates
(Psychologist)

In this private practice, I have offered neuropsychological evaluations.  I have coordinated the services of clinical psychologists, speech pathologists, occupational and physical therapists, tutors, and District staff to provide comprehensive support to children and adolescents.

1991-Current
Overlake Hospital
(Supervising Instructor)

In this position, I supervised educational staff serving in-patients on the Overlake Adolescent Psychiatric Unit.

1994-1995

Seattle Children's
(Neurodiagnostic Clinic)

In this clinic, I provided neuropyschological, intellectual, and academic evaluations and offered school consultations (on-site).  I developed behavioral programs and recommended academic modifications to school districts in a four-state region.  During the final year, I worked concurrently in my private practice while serving in the Children's Eastside Clinic, in the Neurodiagnostic Clinic.

1983 - 1992
Edmonds School District
(Mainstream Coordinator)

I served as a liaison between the center providing ancillary services, the neighborhood schools, and the families of students with significant disabilities.  Within-District educational and awareness opportunities regarding those handicapping conditions were provided to regular staff and to non-handicapped students.  Environmental and classroom modifications were designed and implemented to meet the needs of students with unique needs, in the role of the District Section #504 coordinator.

1978-1983
Project Change
(Teacher/Research Assistant with Peabody and Vanderbilt, in collaboration with Nashville Metro School District)

I participated in an experimental project supporting the de-institutionalization of individuals diagnosed with severe or profound handicapping conditions into regular communities and school environments.  In addition to the teaching responsibilities, the position required the provision of awareness opportunities for receiving regular education students and staff regarding the intellectual, communicative, and physical disabilities of those previously institutionalized.  Families were offered behavioral training and help interfacing with various community agencies.

1976-1977
Metropolitan Schools – Nashville, Tennessee
(Teacher:  Moderately Intellectually Disabled)

Transylvania County Schools – Brevard, North Carolina
(Teacher:  Learning Disabled and Moderately Intellectually Disabled)

1992-2013
State of Florida – Pompano Beach, Florida
(Social Worker)

Fuller Foundation – Boca Raton, Florida
(Social Worker)

In both social work positions, for the state and the private foundation, I worked with minority and indigent families, with an emphasis on employment and community living.
